Pros/Cons of TS55 cordless vs corded

Personally, I wouldn't use my TS 55 REQ without dust extraction, and once you have the CT hose, the power cord is a none issue...

Just trimmed a chunk off 4 solid core doors with the TSC55 a few minutes ago .. had to come back to this thread and say how much of a joy the TSC55 is to use.

I have a dedicated FS1080 with the big protractor and the trigger clamp set underneath .. that combined with the TSC55 should be a door installer's dream!

I passed on the TSC and am picking up a TS55 this week.
My feelings were that the bag on the TSC was a nuissance in that it was
timely and difficult to remove and reattach and it (along with the batteries) got in my way moreso than the hose and power cord normally would.

That said, if you need cordless, I'd recommend it.
Just be warned that you'd want two chargers and four batteries
along with it.

If I'm not mistaken the bearings are different on the two machines? The corded version having less vibration. For field work without AC it's an obvious choice, but I have enough Milwaukee red batteries that I'm not keen on keeping everything on chargers, with the addition of festool batteries. Once you attach a vacuum hose an ac-cord is not a big decision. I think it's great festool offers two alternatives

I think if I just needed a quick cut or was doing demo work or on the crawl space of a house or up on a roof I would probably swing for a Milwaukee cordless saw... I already have their batteries so it's not a big financial decision. I also own an old 4" DC powered Makita saw for cutting kerfs, drywall demo, and cutting up junk furniture, in a pinch where accuracy is not a concern.

Thanks! I'll look into the bearings!

I would go corded first. As It is the reference standard as far as plunge saws go

Not so sure about that. Might want to take a look around at other options.

Headed out to Tools for Working Wood this week (in Brooklyn) to check out the TS-55 models & also for a demo on Saturday (Festool Demo Day) so will make my choice then. I'll let everyone know :)
