PSA - older CT36 dust extractors can be dangerous

Update: 

I did get in contact with Festool after quite a few failed attempts.  they are sending me a new plastic tool shroud to replace the one that shattered.  So I think it will coat the inside with Fiberglass and Resin so that it cannot break as I know I won't want to replace this again.

Not a bad idea. Not knowing what the "fiberglass and resin" you plan, Bondo grey/gray would be perfect for this and is much cheaper than the pink body-filler. You wouldn't need a fiberglass reinforcement inside it otherwise my granite shower pan would have collapsed ages ago...

Mine broke too quite unexpectedly. I just pulled it forward on it's wheels and suddenly I had the top in hand. It broke near all four screws. I had glued one crack before. It just ripped 0,5mm next to it.

I wouldn't bother with the glass fibre and epoxy.

Two of mine have broke.  The newer ones have had no issues much stronger and I don’t think you will have to reinforce it when you get it.  You will see they are much stronger.  Wasn’t happy when both of mine splintered but no damage to myself.  Glad to here you’re healing.

I have an older CT36 that has lived its entire life in a conditioned basement. The top deteriorated into pieces with no UV exposure and without being abused. That plastic simply doesn't hold up over time.
