Hi

I have just been looking at the pull out drawer system for the systainers which look great.
However I was thinking about how I could use this for a portable system and I do not think it will work well in this way for me.

Great for in the workshop or even in the van but it is getting the stuff to and from the workshop and van that is the problem.

I do however have a solution to this if Festool are listening.
I would like a combined pull out sys az with the Sys Roll trolley.
All that would be required would be another pair of aluminium extrusion at the front of the sys roll and a few of the pull out drawers. they could be secured at variable heights for different size systainers and extra pull outs could be added if required.

This would solve a lot of my organization problems when I arrive at a new job and have to set up. I would buy 3 or 4 immediately.

So can someone in Germany get on the case please so I don`t have to make my own.

Thanks

Ollie

That is very nice indeed.

I will think about making this without the top and shelf as I already have an mft3 . I just think the sys roll is missing a trick here.
Being able to access the stuff in the systainers without having to de-stack them is a great space and time saver.
Tims version is fantastic.

If you don't need the table, you're probably looking for something like this:

That Oli one looks closer to what I was thinking of. I have looked them up but the website is not working.

I would like to no the cost, and I wonder if I have to pay import tax from Poland to UK.

It would probably make more sense to build a frame that fits the sys-az yourself or have one built. That video should lead you in the right direction. The simplest method that comes immediately to mind would be to design and build a frame for the sys-az and mount that frame to a standard hand truck.

Poland is part of the EU, so imports from there require no import duty/ vat to be added to the cost.  [smile]

I'm going for units that don't need to be in drawer systems.. I feel having a box with a lid in a drawer is a waste of hardware, if you want a drawer system why not just make a set of drawers ? If you need to nest your tools in them like in the Systainers, you could build them to the same dimensions and then just install the tool inserts in the drawer...

I am going to organize my setup so that I use Sys 1 or Sys 2's as super attic lids on top of Sys 4's or 3's They can sit on a narrow table in a row close to my work area..When I want a tool or some hardware, I just open the lid and grab the tool, I don't want to open a drawer, open a lid, grab a tool, close a lid, close a drawer it's just too many steps...

I'll build a shelf unit raised up to a comfortable working height, say 40 cm to the shelftop, with a ridge where a Combined Sys 4 and Sys 1  or Sys 3 and Sys 2 unit can lock in securely so when I open These Sys 1 or Sys 2 super attic lids the combo units won't overbalance and fall off the shelf. This will allow me to have just have one movement to get to the tool or hardware that I want, and save on the drawer slider hardware and material...later on I may get some one row sortainers to sit at the bottom of these mini stacks which can give quick and easy access to smaller bits and pieces..

I can see others using the drawer lid setup and being fine with the solution though..

I'm now thinking of just building a frame where I mount systainer sized drawers, in these I can have consumables, hand tools, powertools with their inserts. The systainers can be used for bigger items that don't need quick access too during work.. This frame with it's systainer sized drawers can be lockable, and made to fit onto the sysroll for transport.
