Purchased a New Tablesaw Today!

Can't help wondering if the story would be the same if you had bought the G0690 or perhaps the G0696X originally. You kind of jumped right over Grizzly's 3hp and 5hp single phase offerings.

Seems a little unfair to me.

I can fully understand brand dissatisfaction ... why would you take the risk if you ...

1 Know what you want
2 Know a product that will meet your needs
3 Are happy to pay the premium

People tend to stick (or persevere) with a brand based on good experience or outstanding customer service.

Your kinda saying you got a cheap Ford and it failed you so you should buy a better Ford ...  [smile]

No, that's not quite it. 

I'm saying that he would have been fine if he'd bought the G0651 to start with.  He'd still have it and he would never have considered a Powermatic and he would have saved $1000.  Plus, he'd have a 50" fence and an integrated outfeed table.

But he didn't.  He saved a little bit too much money and on top of that the motor failed.  He's ticked and he's scorching Grizzly a bit.  I'm the same way, sounds like me.

People buy Grizzly cause they can't afford a SawStop or Powermatic or Unisaw and almost all of them are fine with their 3hp Grizzly.

On the other hand Grizzly has a full blown small slider for $2995.  Scoring blade and all.  So I might just turn right around and buy that other Ford.  Just to see what happens.

All I'm saying is I can empathise with the reaction .. and I think many people react that way.

The really sad thing is that some brands manufacture their flagship products themselves and then start "expanding their range" by rebadging other stuff .. I hate that!! Stick to what you're good at [mad]

Ultimately, life is a learning experience!

Some very interesting viewpoints here...I enjoy reading others thoughts.

As far as brands go - my Powermatic experience started like this...

My dad was a pipe organ builder, tuner and repairer.  This was a craft he picked up in the early 50's I think.  Anyway, I remember as a kid dad bought a brand new table saw and jointer.  This would have been about 1972 or there about.  The jointer was a Powermatic Model 50 and the table saw was a Delta 10" contractor saw.  The years passed and I always remembered the jointer.  My dad passed away in 2000 and my younger brother aquirred the family business.  My brother moved to Chicago and works fr a large pipe organ company and I moved to north central Wisconsin.  Through it all I acquired the Powermatic jointer and radial arm saw.  My brother has the table saw.  I was always impressed with the jointer and am glad to own it today - still going strong. 

So, not having a table saw, yes, I decided to save a little money and go with the Grizzly.  I read the reviews and they all seemed to be favorable to the Grizzly for affordability and quality.  I have only owned the saw for about a little over 2 years, and then had the motor problem and never was able to get the fence to square up.  Like the old saying "you get what you pay for", I decided that I am going to have the motor repaired and sell the saw. 

Like the comment about the Ford I was not going to consider buying another Ford, albeit a more expensive one.  I wanted a saw that I could swear by, not at.  I wanted something that I was going to ultimately be happy with.
