Purpose of White Dots on DF 500 Fence?

I've looked through the manual and done lots of searches and can't find a purpose for the white rubber-y dots on the front of the fence of the DF 500.  From youtube videos it seems like they're on both the pin and paddle version of the fence.

Why are they there, and am I missing some functionality by my ignorance?

Non slip pads. They help keep the domino from sliding.
