I've been reinstalling the film set that I built to its new home in an art gallery, and so inevitably the dimensions have shifted slightly so that there are a few gaps in some of the joints on the trim, mostly the crown moulding. Nothing too glaring, but I'd like to address it if it's possible. If everything were painted it wouldn't be an issue, but it's red oak with a natural finish courtesy of Osmo Polyx Oil. A carpenter friend mentioned that there were some wax products out there that might be useful, and one in particular that resembled a kind of crayon kit with a rainbow of (wood) colors, but he couldn't remember the specs or brand of what he was recommending. Before I applied the finish, I was using the Pacific red oak wood putty, which got pretty close in terms of the color. But now that the finish is already applied, I don't want to use anything that messy, or that would require a bunch of additional sanding to remove the excess.
Does anyone know of a good solution?
