pvc soffit

is there a way to cut pvc soffit with a ts55 req .is there a blade that will not chip the soffit as it is holow in places. thanks in advance John

I have always put my blade on so it is cutting backward. It cuts really well doing it that way.

Not really for the thin soft plastic material.  Carpenters have been doing this with conventional saws and blades since the introduction of vinyl siding.

I assume you are talking about the thin soffit material (like vinyl siding) and not something else.

Thanks Peter for following up with the answer to John's question, I missed the post. I've been studying different ideas for building a moxon vise. And my wife says I have an addiction.

If you need to cut a good amount of it I've found the best way to cut it is stack a few lengths on top of each other and put it on my kapex. Keep the head all the way in and plunge straight down slowly. Once your through you can pull the head of the saw towards you which is essentially cutting backwards. Works like a charm.

We also just use a small Drexel circular saw (3" or whatever it is) with a pvc blade on it.

You can also cut it with a sharp razor blade or a pair of tin snips. It's really not rocket science as the cut goes jnto J-channel on one side and is covered by flashing on the outside edge.
