Peter_C said:Why not just find a used drill press from Craigslist? Even a cost effective one from Harbor Freight will work better than those cheesy jigs. Plus a drill press can accept a vise, and clamps, like the Automaxx clamps.
Because a drill press is an entirely different kind of tool for an entirely different set of circumstances.Peter_C said:Why not just find a used drill press from Craigslist?

I prefer Proxxon BFB 2000. Proper dovetail slide mechanism and ability to drill at an angle.Cheese said:If we're talking about a closed bottom drill stand (think mini drill press) the best value drill stand is a Wabeco.
My problem with Wabeco is that they don't ship to US (directly from the company). Re-sellers bring the price up considerably.Cheese said:I agree, the Proxxon unit is real nice, however it runs about $300.
I was coming strictly from the value perspective aspect as the small Wabeco, with only a down plunge function costs $70.
There are a lot of down plunge only units out there from Metabo, Bosch, Record and BDS. However, they all run in the $190-$450 range.
And then there’s the Duss in the $600-$750 range.

No luck. Kein Verkäufer liefert diesen Artikel aktuell in die Vereinigten Staaten!Cheese said:You’re right, they only ship within the EU. However Amazon.de does resell their products for pretty close to the same price.Svar said:My problem with Wabeco is that they don't ship to US (directly from the company).
