I'm building a bed and two side tables for some young friends. I'm using some very pretty quartersawn white oak. The headboard is 80" wide and 33" high. The bed frame is made of 1 1/2" by 4 1/2" rails.

I don't want to get into spraying as all my other projects are small.

My young friends don't want gloss and just want to enhance the beauty of the wood.

I showed them some wipe-on Minwax poly and they liked that.

I've never finished anything this big and I've never finished this type of wood.

I would appreciate help.

the general finish interior water base poly in flat is my fav goto finish. nice and flat with no shine, looks natural and offers great protection and brings out the grain without all the yellowing that the oil base finish leaves behind over time. the minwax polycrylic (flat) is just as good and few bucks cheaper

Osmo Polyx Hard Wax Oil in matte

Beautiful finish, easy to apply, good choice for your application.

How long does Surfix take to dry? Odor?

Odor-not bad, none when cured.

48 hours from application to putting in service.
