Question About Circular Saw Models

I have a few Festool's but not any saws, yet. I saw a deal on a TS 75 EQ-F-PLUS but looked it up and it's P/N is 574684 and Festool site says it is discontinued. I found it's replacement is 575390.

Anyone know the differences in these part numbers?

The discontinued saw has the metric depth scale.

Strange was recon sale but title said Imperial for the 574684.

I may be wrong Mike. The dust port may be the difference. The 575390 has the bayonet dust connection port. The 574684 may have the old port.

The depth gauge & dust ports are the only recent changes to the TS75 that I am aware of.

Not to worry. The TS 75 has remained virtually unchanged since its introduction. Like Chris (JD2720) mentioned, the dust port was changed to the bayonet style and the scale was changed to metric. Festool also changed the part numbers to let dealers sell the saw separately and let the customer choose the rail length of their preference (575389) or bundled with the 75" rail at a slight discount on the rail (575390).

Even when I was a FUSA employee, I found the number of product number changes to be excessive and often unnecessary. Not to mention confusing for customers.  [blink]

Received my recon TS 75 and 75” track today from Festool. Both items look never used. The saw has the newer dust port design. I’m a very happy camper.

I already had two 55” and one 118” tracks. This 75” seems to be an odd size - is it a Euro size or designed for a specific task?

I believe Baltic Birch plywood is sold in 5'x5' sheets.  Or 1.5 meter squared sheets.  About 60" on each side.  This is European plywood.  Unlike the USA 4'x8' plywood.  If you put a 1900cm rail, 75" rail, across the Baltic plywood, you get roughly enough rail on either end to handle the 75 saw.  Enough extra rail sticking over each side to plunge the saw without being in the plywood and enough when leaving to get completely out of the plywood.  Just guessing this is where the 75", 1900cm rail comes from.  And the 55", 1400cm rail works about the same with the 55 saw for cutting a 4'x8' sheet of plywood across.
