Question about condition of new routers

Hi folks,

I just purchased my first Festool router and baseplate is pretty scratched up upon opening it.  Is this normal or did I get a used/display unit?

My baseplate was covered in protective plastic. If yours wasn't I would be suspicious it had been used.

Gotta agree with Cliff.

Both my 1400 and 1010 shipped with protective plastic tear off strips on their baseplates. However, if you don't notice the tab to remove them, they can look like the base is scratched. Either take the plastic off (if that's the issue) or speak to your dealer because without that plastic covering, it's been used.

I'm sure my of1010 came with film on the base plate.

All my routers came without scratches.  Not saying that they've stayed that way, but at least they arrived that way.  [big grin]

I thought one of mine was scratched when delivered, until I peeled the plastic film off.

That's how my 1010 was.
