Question about CT26E

I use a Kapex  connected to the remote plug on the CT26, when I have a couple hundred repetitive cuts to make I would like the CT26 to stay on instead of stop and go but when I put the switch at MAN setting there is no power at the remote plug so I have to plug the Kapex elsewere, is this normal?

Funny thing, this afternoon I put my ctl26 on manual to clean of some sawdust out of the sideprofiles of my tablesaw, and while I was doing that I turned the saw on too check if the auto-receptacle still had power and the saw worked. (Which I found weird, because I expected it not to have power, like in the 0 mode)
Mine is a 220v model.

They are different. On the European models, switching the vac to either 'manual' or 'auto' makes the socket live. Only the 'off' position shuts the socket off. It's really handy for instance if you're cutting a lot of pieces quickly on the Kapex, you can just have the vac on constantly while the kapex is switched on & off. Saves the vac continually switching on and off too.

I'm guessing it was a UL requirement that caused Festool to re-wire the US models...

My two CT22s are the same way, socket is only hot in Auto mode. I would be nice to have the socket hot in manual .  Does anyone know if a mod to that would just be a wire connection or if is a switch or some logic board replacement? But that would most likely void the warranty..... oh course I just asking from a educational standpoint. [wink]

You know,

Festool should off a little plug with a switch.  It would go in-between the tool and its power cord.  By flipping this switch, the vac would think the tool was always on.

Additionally, you could then use it as a remote on-off switch,  when not using a sander / router.  For instance, when cleaning your shop.  It would be quite nice to have a remote switch right there in your hand.  - Just make sure all your hoses have power cords tied to them.

You could also just use a wireless tool starter, (easy to find) & then live without the "auto stop" function.

This is disappointing.  I am saving up for a CT26 to use with my Ultimate Dust Deputy.  My Fein Turbo I's power outlet works in manual or auto.

I have a 3 way on my vacs with  a little light going to it. The light is on a foot switch.

If I am using the miter and I do not want the vac to cycle off and on I just click the foot swtich to the task lighting. The vac stays on for the entire time I use the miter. Click the foot switch again and the vac goes back to its original mode. Because every tool I have is set up with the task lighting and floor switch I never noticed the outlet was dead when in manual mode, it never occurred to me to even check. I really like the  task lighting right at the tool so it works out well(just a clamp on light).

I initially did this because I just hate bending over to turn on the vac when I need to clean the table, etc and I found my self tapping the tool on and off to get the vac to go on(especially the sanders), just to clear off the dust on he table. I still use the sander as a vac in this mode and just rub it across the table while the sander is off(vac is on) to clear the the dust on the table...

When you set the vac to "Auto", the receptacle is hot.  If you turn "ON" anything that is plugged into that receptacle (well, anything that draws a sufficient amount of current) the vac will start.  So, if you plug a "y", a three way, or other such splitter into the receptacle, since that outlet is hot anything plugged into any branch of a splitter will also be hot -- and if you were to have three items plugged into a splitter, any one item will activate the vac when turned "ON" (again, if it draws a sufficient amount of current) and any or all items may be turned "ON".  The vac will run for a few seconds after the last item has been turned "OFF".  Hope this clarifies the situation.

Actually getting power out of the receptacle was not my intention, but it worked out that way. I like task lighting at the tool and I love my foot switches(Billy Pedal).

As I see it, there is nothing wrong with the tool-activated aspect of these Festool vacs.  The "problem" becomes that once you have one of these vacs and enjoy the benefits of their tool activation you want more.  And wanting some type of switch, whether at the end of the hose or foot controlled switch, is a reasonable idea. 

As for the 3-way devices, I would suggest something like:

if you want it plugged directly into the vac's outlet, and something like:

if placed between the heavier power cord supplied with the Boom Arm and any plug-it(s) that you have hanging with the hose(s).
