I understand the supposed advantage of not sawing past the cut line in the front claimed for tapered saws, but when I was looking at the comparative specs, for example, of the LN regular vs. tapered saws, I noticed that the saw plate for their tapered saws is thinner. Is there a reason why they do a thinner blade on the tapered versions, and I'm wondering whether this compromises cut straightness at all?
