Question about the current T-3 drills

Perhaps I'm asking a question that may have already been covered. I apologize if that is the case.

I'm considering purchasing a T-15+3 drill and I was wondering if there are any changes to the motors of the new fall release upgraded T drills?

I'm well aware of the LED and battery gauge and beltclip but if the motors are the same, I'm not so concerned about the other features. I use the belt hook and LED that was promo'd a few years back. So I'm fine in that category!

Sorry in advance if I'm asking a question that was already put out there!

No there is no difference in the motors.
Only 3.0 Ah batteries (+15%), belt clip, LED and battery gauge.

If you browse to the EKAT catalogue you can see that the motors of the old (494374) and new T15 (497836) have the same number 495196.
I contacted a premium German supplier about it and they confirmed that the motor is the same.
They only redesigned the body and internal electronics to supply the LED and the battery gauge.
The above is also the same for the T12 and T18 drill.

So for you there is no reason to wait for the upgraded T15.

Thanks neeleman!  What is the www for the ekat site?  I've seen talk but haven't searched to find that.  Seems good to find random parts since half the time my woodcraft is usually scratching their heads when I need a part!

Bob, as was already said, the same motor. Just thought I would make it "official".  [wink]

In my reply you can see the text EKAT in blue and underlined, that means an URL and you can click on it to go to the German catalogue with all the parts of all old and new machines.
Festool USA also has a much smaller EKAT catalogue. And Festool UK if you want a larger catalogue in English language.
EKAT USA
EKAT UK

Neeleman...sorry...looked right past that!  It's not underlined on the phone app, so I didn't pick up on that!  Thanks for pointing that out!

Builderbob, i just purchased a t15 from Sean and it did come with a belt hook and more importantly a ratcheting chuck which I think is more useful considering the issues I have read about the old chuck not grabbing the bits correctly. I think for the price it is a great purchase.

I to just ordered one from Sean at the Tool Nut.  He did verify that it will becoming with the belt hooks as well, plus I opted for the T-Loc attic.  I think this will compliment my C12 drill well.

I would wait, the 2.6AH for the old style and 3.0Ah for the new C15 and T15's. might not be much, but there is no replacement for displacement

I did consider that little 15% difference in battery, but my T-12+3 is a workhorse for the battery size and I'm just looking for more a bit more power. I got rid of my Makita 18v Li-Ion stuff and I'm using the Festool drills all of the time...mostly kitchen installs. I just need that little umph more than the T-12+3.
