I thought the "-F" in the Model of the OF1010 meant it was the new model of the OF1010, now I'm not so sure.  Any guesses?

The F is the new version. Here they are side by side.

The picture of the one I just bought from Amazon is definitely the previous model.  It is supposed be be delivered on Friday, so we shall see

Just heard back from Festool of deciphering the alphabet soup of letters of the OF1010 Router:
E –electronics, variable speed

Q – plug-it cable

F – facelift

This version looks like more than just a facelift. Judging only by the photos it looks like the biggest difference is that the plunge posts are straddle (or nearly do) the axis of the spindle. Previous generations of this router (OF900, OF1000) have posts that are both to one side of the spindle.

In my use of the older routers smooth plunging requires pressing down on the top of the router with my hand biased towards the posts. Not difficult but it always makes me wonder why they put the posts to that side.

Not necessarily, the "R" (as in Revision) in the name is what indicates the new model, not the -F at the end.

OF 1010 E.. would be the "old" model of the  1010 designation router, the one on the right of your pricture..
OF 1010 R... are the new models

(R/K/F) The first suffix letter indicated generation/model series (no letter if first model/generation)
E indicates speed control of the motor
B indicates motor brake possibly a 230V version, but not all 230V tools have the B in name ..
Q indicates quick-change (PlugIt) cable
-F indicates ... possibly a 110V version ? ... aaand I go for "Fractional" per below as it is a US-specific suffix

I had the previous version and sold it to get the F when it came out. I don't know if it's a coincidence or not, but I use the 1010 SO MUCH MORE since the revision. I think my hangup was how fiddly chucking up a bit was on the older version, the new version is way improved in that area, and also the ability to lock on a 36mm hose. All the improvements were well done and much needed.

In the recent past, the F stood for fractional... meaning imperial measurements on the depthscale.
Here is the email I received from Festool:

Good morning,

E –electronics, variable speed

Q – plug-it cable

F – facelift

Hope this helps.

Best Regards,

The Festool Team

Festool is wrong in this case; it happens.

R = Revised/Revision, not F = Facelift. The F (as stated) relates to a non-metric version.

That's why the revised European model is called the REQ (110V) or REBQ (230V).

I don't pretend to understand the alphabet soup. It just so happens that the R and F happened at the same time.
The R for revised sounds good.
I'll even go with the F for fractional, but my older model was also fractional, yet didn't have the F.

To me, it looks like they turned it into a mini version of the OF1400, except for the screws versus snap feature of the base plate.

The wondering is over, at least for me.  I received my OF1010 EQ-F last night and I can verify it is the NEW "Facelift" Model.  Thanks all for your input.

Could you post a picture with the tool sticker visible ?

Your experience seems to be in conflict with the "conventional" knowledge. Really wondering what tool you got - an "OF 1010 EQ-F" with the *new* chassis is not suppossed to exist - as far as eKat and Festool official docu is concerned.

Would indicate something trully anew or an old sticker on new tool? Possibly an OF 1010 REQ-F with OF 1010 EQ-F internals ?!? Left wondering.
