Question(s) regarding CT 36 Hepa vac and possible future planex use...

I was wondering if I could get by with using the CT 36 vac If I forsee possibly getting the Planex in the near future. I most likely will be purchasing the RS2E sander very soon and would like to purchase a vac as a combo. I have an older Midi, and would like to get a newer/ bigger vac for the Kapex, etc.

Can I get by with the regular CT36 for occasional drywall use? Do I need to do something special to protect the motor from drywall dust? If I need the AC version, can I add a HEPA filter to it? Last question, I assume that I can use the RO-150 and the RS2E for drywall till the planex is a possiblity. Is that a correct assumption? Other than minor undulation due to the difference in pad size it shouldn't be an issue should it?

BTW I thought there was another post on this subject(vacuum), but I couldn't find it.

Festool recommends using only the CT AutoClean with the Planex. However, there are customers who are using non-AC models of our dust extractors with the Planex for small jobs. The issue is that the very fine dust of the drywall compound can clog the pores of the filter bag, reducing suction. Likewise, it can clog your HEPA filter.

The motor is sealed, nothing needed to protect it.

The CT AutoClean will accept all of the same accessories as the CT 36, including the HEPA filter. The CT AutoClean should NOT be used for RRP tasks.

Yes, the RS 2 and RO 150 can be used for drywall. You may find them bulky or heavy for that type of use and for that reason may want to consider smaller sanders. The DTS is a great option.

Thanks! I'll have to weigh the ability of the RS2 to flatten stock(larger wood surfaces/ primary need) vs the lightness of the DTS for an infrequent need.

If drywall is a secondary use for the sander(s), then the larger sanders may not be an issue for you.

Also, I meant to point out that the CT AutoClean comes with a special hose for the Planex. That hose will not work with the other sanders. You would need an adapter or a 27mm hose.
