Questions about locking reducing sleeves (tool end)

Since I've mounted my D36 hose on my new boom arm (Love it!) I've noticed that I can't quite reach the floor with the D36 hanging off my boom! My plan has been to replace the rotation connector on my D27 - the side that plugs into the dust extractor.  That way, I should be able to plug my D27 into my D36 on a temporary basis and have a hose to reach all corners of my shop without having to mess with anything or move the boom arm.

When I went to buy the part, it seems the options are either:
487071 (Reducing Sleeve for D 27 Hose)
500669 (Locking Dust Extraction Hose Port)

If i go with the new locking dust port, is it compatible with all tools and accessories?  Meaning can i use it to friction fit tools that don't have a locking port?

Also - At this point in the US, is the TS55 the only tool that you can retrofit with a locking port? keeping the hose from slipping off the tracksaw would be a big win in my book.

It's a lot easier to just hook both the 36mm and 27mm hoses onto the boom arm for connecting to tools, and have a separate inexpensive non-Festool hose with vacuum cleaner attachments dedicated to shop cleanup.

The new locking connectors are backwards compatible so will work fine with tools not designed specifically for them.

Thanks Garry - that's very helpful.  Hopefully the locking system will be extended to all tools.
The TS55 is the biggest culprit in terms of the hose slipping off (especially the D36) but it certainly can't hurt to have the hose lock onto all tools.

Not sure it's coming to all tools, but certainly I've seen them (and the spare part upgrades) for the larger sanders without the oval ports etc.

Does the new connector work with the oval port on the RS2 sander?  My new ETS EC sander came with the port adaptor and it doesn't look like it will be happy going on an oval port.
