I got this as was in my opinion a good bit of kit
they swivel 90 degrees so can be laid flat under rail
if you use them on the right hand end of rail and lay them flat , the handle protrudes past the splinter guard
i have cut part way through the handle  [sad]
luckily the screw that holds them together is a few mm higher , so no damage to blade

I've not heard of that before.
In the future could you not just swivel the clamp handle in the opposit direction, away from the saw blade?
 
They do a left and right hand version of those clamps, presumably for that very reason.
 
Not familiar with that clamp type, but it looks like the little handle can swivel out of the way. In any case the Festool EKAT lists spare parts for the clamp so you may not be totally out of luck here.

The handle will swivel 90 degrees so would not be an issue in the upright position, but sometimes not the clearance to do this
