Quick question about kapex 120 extention wings?

Hi, I have the kapex 120 and use it with a homemade stand/table on wheels that my midi fits neatly underneath. I just bought a left-hand extension wing to use with this setup. On opening it I have noticed 2 problems.
1st. It doesn't come with the bracket that attaches it to the saw? tells me I need to buy the crown moulding attachment?
2nd its the one in the picture with the mft that I got was expecting the other one if I am honest! Although that would be my fault! Which one is better/more suitable before I go any further?
Thanks, Jack.

I assume you mean the wing with the fold up leg (201181), as opposed to the base extension table (with crown stop: 494369).  The extension wing comes with a bracket to attach it.  It's a little fiddly to set up, but you'll see that there's a metal tab that slides out when you loosen the knob to grip the underside of the v-groove profile on the kapex bed.

Note that you cannot use the extension wing and the base extension tables simultaneously.

hi thanks for the quick reply! the pic above is what I thought I got an what I believe you are talking about. but what I do have is the other version? which would be better for me? what is the difference ment to be? thanks a mill!

Oh.  I'm pretty sure that's not available in the American market, so I'll have to defer to my european colleagues on which is better.

no, unfortunately, I have the other version of the stand. think I better try to get a refund and get this one instead?

For a comparison, you could check out my post in This thread

I've had the old style extensions for almost 10 years now. I bought them as a setversion with the kapex, at the time it was a good deal for me, because I also got a basic mft with for use with the domino. I did have to wait because it took almost a year after introduction of the kapex for the setversion to become actually available locally.

With the eb extention you need a crownstop to attach them to the kapex, and you also need extra support brackets for it to become practical (those cost about 8€/piece when I got them.
Like the crownstops the EB extentions are the same part for left or right (you need to remove a bold and slide the inner part in from the other side to modify).

If you also have a CS70 it might be worthwhile keeping. When I'm making custom skylights I use them to cut the aluminium profiles to length on the CS70 (it's easier to clean of the alu chips that don't go into the vac from the cs70 table than on the kapex)

The second set of extension guides posted with the Kapex on the MFT look awesome!  Living in The US i have never seen them. Anybody know if it's possible to use the extension guides part of the UG cart but have the Kapex on a MFT?  What's the height difference?  The cart is just to cumbersome to store and carry around.

New style UG extensions will work with the Kapex on the  KAPEX MFT.  But not on the Kapex on the regular MFT without modifying. However the regular MFT is the same height as the Kapex on the Kapex MFT. See picture. In other words the regular MFT can be used as the support for Kapex on Kapex MFT or UG stand. It is hard to tell due to the angle of the pic but if I place a piece on the Kapex it will be supported at the correct height  on the other MFT.

[member=65318]jackfinzo[/member]  Welcome to the forum!  [smile]

The stand you received is the old style stand that is discontinued but apparently still available from some sources.  It was available in the USA as well.  The newer UG and the old stand should have different part numbers.  The new one will have "UG" in the name.

...

Since the difference in height is the same as a SYS-I, no modification is needed -- just place a Systainer-I under each leg of the extension wings. Not the best solution, but might be a nicer working height for some.  [wink]

thanks for all the info guys! think I'm going to ring them and see if they will take it back and swap it. as I would prefer the option of bein able to connect the stand to an MFT as an outfeed extension of a repeatable stop. thanks again Jack.

Plus the continuous support surface. I used the DeWalt stand for a time ......... what a pain to have to adjust the support location all the time.
