Here is a video of the Protool version. The RG 130 is a brilliant machine, I have used it in training and it can cope with all kinds of materials, my favourite was using the Thermo disc for sticky tile adhesive, very clever.

Yes [member=41214]Phil Beckley[/member], was lucky to have 2 days in Germany on all the Protool stuff, enabling me to know a little about what I was talking about selling Protool in the UK. We did the W10 exhibition with the Protool range and I travelled the country demonstrating for a while.

I also have some gems in my demo kit, mostly big carpentry machines; 2 chain mortisers, notcher/rafter seat cutter, carpentry chainsaw, 350mm portable planer, CSP 85, portable bandsaw, a super powerful DRP 20 drill and the loveliest cordless of them all, the DRC 12-4.

So, I suppose if I had the talent I could try my hand at oak timber framing, I've already got most of the tools.

Sue I remember the W10 show. Protool had some great machines for all applications so maybe we will see more come over eventually.
.....you supply the machines for Oak framing and I supply the labour 'Warren and Phil' framing services....we can use that great V.W or yours  [wink]

Sounds very appealing, much as I love what I do, actually building something with the machines and some big lumps of oak would make a refreshing change.  [big grin]

Really surprised to see Festool make a mixer!

I thought the whole Festool ethos was if they can't improve on it or make it cleverer they aren't interested and apparently that's why they don't make a recip saw. I can't imagine more of a blunt instrument than a mixer, so this has me a little perplexed.

Not to be derogatory (and oversimplifying a bit), Festool in Germany is just "another brand" that has an interest in selling as many goods to as many people as possible. The "ethos" is really, do they have a strong enough brand in the marketplace to make it a successful seller.

Not sure what makes them gunshy about recip saws, but the semi-pro surface grinder market is already crowded with pretty good offerings from Metabo, Bosch, Flex, Makita, etc.
