Rail connectors....festool or makita?

The title pretty much says it all. I need some real connectors and I'm wondering which is better.

Nick, there are several threads on this subject if you do a search.

Having said that, I definitely prefer the Makita due to the way it's designed.  The makita pushes apart the two long connectors using set screws, whereas the Festool you tighten slot headed screws against the rail. Note that you will need to purchase two sets of the connectors.

I use the makita ones, got them on Amazon.  I actually use them to connect the makita rail to a festool rail  [eek]

I know people say that you need 2 sets, but it's actually recommended by Makita to use only 1 connector to connect 2 rails.  And I've never needed to buy more than 1 TBH.  Maybe if you're constantly moving it around all day, you may want the extra insurance of 2 connectors..

Personally, I can't speak to what Makita might recommend for connecting their rails, as I have Festool rails and the proper method of connecting them is to use two sets, that is the way I go.  For me, it seems logical to use two sets and by doing so, I don't worry about my rails moving out of alignment when moving or adjusting them on sheet goods.  Using two connectors between rails eliminates the possibility of pivoting or movement that I would suspect using only one connector may allow.

As I pointed out earlier in this thread, would recommend you search for related posts on this topic, as other discussions are included in previous threads such as how to align the rails, aftermarket tools to help with alignment, etc..

I liked the Makita ones so I copied them and made my own...would gave been easier to just buy them..lol!

So the makita connectors are $30 each and I need two yet the festools are only $17 each?
