Rain, rain, go away!

From rain to snow.  We've got our first snow fall this morning, a light coating in the grass. [sad]  Who else is getting snow this weekend?

We're supposed to get it yesterday but didn't see any around. It usually rains on Halloween around here so we have that to look forward to.

I'm not ready for winter yet!

Got snow  for several hours  in the afternoon  a couple days ago. No real accumulation, but all the slightly colder surfaces stayed covered.

Left sunny 80 degree South Carolina for a Nor'easter in MA... [scared]  did not pack for this.

Jon

Edit;  supposed to get 4-6"!

All the leaves are still on the trees so the snow is causing more problems here with down trees!

yup... trees down all over the place!  Lost two small trees in my front yard, and an 8' branch from a maple tree hit the roof over my kitchen.  Luckily there was no damage to the house.

I finally appreciate all that rain we had earlier.  Our power went off sometime saturday nite and only just came back on an hour ago.
Almost 7 days.  10 inches of VERY HEAVY WET SNOW in my yard on sunday morning.  I could barely see parts of my truck to go out plowing in the morning.  The entire area (western Connecticut for me) still looks like a war zone.  snow is all gone on exposed hillsides, but piles where I pushed snow with plow are still in place.  i used snow to keep fridge operating.  The old woodstove gobbled up plenty of wood scraps so i managed to get some of the mess cleaned up in my wood shop.
Some areas in Ct & Mass got as much as 30"s I am told (weather reports from Hartford)  We had earlier devestation from Irene in August with record power outages (I was out of power for 7 days then also).  This snow storm smashed all those records.  One has to go back to 1804 (That's the year 1804) to find an October snow storm with more that an inch or two of accumulation.  We just had the 200 year storm.  'twarn't no fun.  Well maybe a little.  My son & I managed to wear some of the rust off of our snow plows.  Winter keeps up like this, I'll be back at my local Festoy store very soon.  :P
