Transit Van Fit Out - GunnyR

In any case I used it for two years and sold it to a local custom speaker builder and it was around the neighborhood for several more years.

Apparently the racks were very expensive ($1,500.00 to $2,000.00).  A reliable car/truck.

What a great story!!!!

I mounted two awning windows that I ordered from a boat shop.  Installed, they made a distinct appearance.  So it was easily spotted when on the road.

The speaker guy came from a family of Christian Science believers—and they did not believe in vaccinations.

His younger sister went to a Christian Science summer camp and they had an outbreak of polio.  Most of the campers got sick. And the camp would not call in an doctors.  This was long after polio was eradication in the USA.

The speaker guy left the fold and he was “shunned” by the church and its members.  All his friends and relatives refused to speak to him.  So when we would run into one another he would talk to me at length.  I’m a friendly ear.

So I can’t think of that van without thinking of all those needlessly sickened children.

So, I agree.  An interesting story.

Another amusing sidebar.

I initially advertised the van for $400.00.  No calls.

I then figured that maybe it was too cheap and it was a piece of junk.

So I advertised it for $600.00.  No calls.

The $800.00 and he called and bought the van.

He said, “Good thing I came this week.  I wouldn’t have been able to afford $1,000.00.

He never asked why the price kept going up.

Excellent!

I sold my work PU with about 150K on it almost 4 years ago to a local painter.  I still see it around sporting my US Marine Corps Retired window sticker!  I had bought it used with nearly 100K on it;  three tradesman have earned a living with that truck!  I hope my van has a legacy like our trucks have!

Jeff,
really glad you escaped uninjured!

EIGHT (8) weeks without a worktruck?
what is the cost-of-lost opportunity to your business?

I have some ideas and will give you a call.

[member=42009]gunnyr[/member] I've always loved your van conversion, well thought out and detailed and I'm gutted for you.  It sounds like your tools are ok and the racking might be too so that's good all of your hard work hasn't gone to waste because of a numpty.

When you do get the van back it will be like night and day having all that space again and easy access to all of your tools.

Keep us posted.
