I like that Peter...it is pretty cool.  [smile]

Interesting that they chose a lead melter and a blow torch to add to the tool collection. I remember my dad using those items for gutters, downspouts & flashing.

I zoomed in, & I own that same drill press. Great tool.

Notice the date, a few years after the end of WWII and American factories had pivoted from weapons to tools. It was a heady time and so many changes to the population with the growth of suburbs. I see the beginnings of Home Depot in that storefront, with overtones of Popular Mechanics. Love it.

We moved back to Wilton,CT right after the WWII. My mother had been working for an Art studio all thru the war. She had connections and she set up shop for bookkeeping for all the artists in Westport and the neiboring towns. She did the bookkeeping job for the artist for the artist, Steven Dohanis (?sp) and all the artists for two or three years until she got job closer to home where she walked to work on the nicer days.

Cecropia moth rescued from the street almost four years ago.
These giant silk moths are the largest native moths of North America.

That's cool, never seen one in person. Reminded me of this guy, IIRC a 17 year brood in PA circa 2003.

In OZ we get these Cicadas breeding/moulting by the thousands in our gum trees, and they're absolutely deafening when you go outside in Summer, even louder than the crickets, the birds love picking them off though. Even indoors with the TV on it's still unbelievably loud. I suppose at least they're one of the creature's in OZ not trying to kill you though.

Back in my fly fishing days there was a hatch along Penns Creek in central PA, it was like watching a river full of piranas. National Geographic should'a been there.

...........Back in my fly fishing days...Richard you're a stitch.  [big grin]

After chatting with my wife today about your fly fishing adventures...my wife kindly reminded me of my purchase of a Scientific Angler fly rod and reel over 30 years ago that I purchased to use specificly when I retired...well I retired over 20 years ago and I've yet to find where I "stored" it.

Two more items for the estate sale.  [big grin]

Staying with the insect photo theme.
Came across these two doing the deed on wall of my house several years ago.

Certainly a handsome couple that I'd invite in for dinner.  [smile]

Well, I guess that you'd only be having one for dinner after she gets done with him and does her best Henry VIII imitation.

[member=8712]Richard/RMW[/member] pic from last week. Supposed to be 76 degrees (F) here in southern Illinois today.

But I remember years when it was below zero at the end of March  [eek]

Ron one of my staunch positions is winter never ends until (a) the friggin' daffodils pop up and (b) they get clobbered by snow. False spring, and I fall for it every time. March has a way of yanking the rug out from under us.

[member=44099]Cheese[/member] not totally sure I'm comfortable with my "fly fishing adventures" as a topic of conversation. [scared] Being DINKs my 40's were spent with the boss and in laws at the shore and me no less than 200 miles west of the circus. Met some folks who owned the B&B/fly shop and made some of my most cherished memories, I doubtless do rattle on about them. And fishing = collecting more nice stuff, which I enjoy.

Packing up the first of collection today to ship it out, one of my better "investments".

[member=68668]Vtshopdog[/member] love the Mantis'. There is something special about encountering them, as rare as they are, they are Zen like. Hadn't known she did the black widow routine tho.

It is a Metmo Driver, from a recent Kickstarter:
https://www.metmo.co.uk/collections/metmo-driver

I bought two and some spare parts, so that's a "Harlequin" unit I put together as a gift for my son.

Waiting on the delivery of their new "Pocket Driver" today, which will trigger my laying out all my tools and working out which goes where as discussed on their forum.
