RAS clearance pricing

It's been some time sense I've chimed in here about anything, but recently noticed the RAS is down to $215 WITH a Tloc Sys2.  That's crazy pricing for such a handy sander.  Came here to see what other folks thought about that deal and seems no one's discussing it. 

After selling the new systainer off for $55, that's one heck of a deal on a pretty rare bird tool; not too many variable speed grinders that offer such a unique dust collection setup to boot. 

I had one a few years ago and used it quite a bit for coping trim work with back to back 36grit flexible discs and for scribing of course as well as roughing out in oddball situations.

Sold mine off but for $215 I bought a couple thinking maybe I'd convert one to a band file and keep another around for polishing, grinding, etc.

If you haven't had any experience with it, it's a no brainer at it's current pricing.

For me the RAS is basically the Cadillac version of a belt sander. For context a belt sander for me is a scribing tool. Not sure what else to use it for.  [big grin]

I use a Milwaukee belt to eliminate any height differences between sheets of plywood for subfloors.

It also works well for graining/straight lining stainless materials such as angle.

Even though I have two now, it is still a temptation.... This is one tool I don't ever want to be without because it can solve so many problems.

They announced the discontinuation of the RAS in North America in July 2019. Shortly thereafter US retailers started dropping their prices. People on this site and others reported buying them like crazy (including me). The amazing thing is that they had so many in inventory that US dealers can (and are) still get them. I bought mine late last summer and the manufacture date on mine was October of 2016. If you buy one be sure to register it and keep your receipt.

Great machine. Perfect for sculpting wood. Do not understand why Festool is discontinuing them.

Crap!  I had to wait until this morning to see if Toolnut would credit me the difference (paid $215 each for a few of them) and of course NOW they are out of stock at Hartville tool!  Oh well...

Wow, Sold out already at Hartville.  They still had them listed as available two day earlier!
