I sure wish the RAS had a Plug-It cord and a round hose connector.

+1 on the round connector or at least something that holds better; the oval works okay on an RS2e that you don't move much, but the RAS, you move.  And you cuss when the hose pops out and dust streams everywhere.

Maybe Paul had that problem. Fortunately I was using the RAS for scribing which doesn't require that much movement, so I didn't have that particular problem. On the other hand, it is a pain in the neck to get the hose on, and I can see how it doesn't hold as well.

My D27 holds onto the oval dust connectors better than the round.  Are you guys saying that you find it just the opposite?

All I know is that the RAS is an incredible time-saver for me in scribing, esp. in difficult places. I'm really growing to love this machine (Thanks Brian for showing it to us in Lebanon during training!!!!).

Amen! I'm building a "step" to cover concrete that was poured higher than the floor (for waterproofing). It turned out that the wall is not perfectly straight, which showed up when I put the wood against the wall. I was worrying and worrying about how I was going to deal with this until I learned about the RAS. In this case, I don't think there is any other reasonable way to do it because the differences are so subtle. In fact, to get the most precision, I wound up finishing the last little bit with the RO 125 using Granat 180 in rotary mode.

Plug- it cord and a reverse switch to turn the sander in the other direction for certain scribing operations.

The 180 is a monster and it weights a ton. I can imagine a use for most Festools ... but the RAS180 is still "out there" in my thinking  [smile]

I think it'll be either a RAS 115.05 or RAS 179.9 if they like your idea.

Had another look at the RAS 180 today - picked it up and moved it around a little bit ... going to see the doctor about my dislocated shoulder tomorrow!

Fortunately had enough strength left to carry a RAS115 home  [big grin]

Back on the RAS180 though - it makes the RO150 look like a toy. Imagine wielding a 9" angle grinder for an extended period of time ... that's what it'd be like [eek]
