I got a RAS115 and can not get the sanding pad to come off.  The spanner did not help it just spread open and now wont grip almost couldn't get the spanner back out of the shroud it deformed so much.  Any ideas before I send it to Festool so they can work on it?  Thank you.

You can try to use some WD40 on it. Spray it onto the thread where the pad starts. Use the thin tube that comes with the can of WD40. Then let it sit for a couple of minutes before trying to remove the pad again. The spanner that comes with the RAS is not that strong, perhaps try another, standard spanner if you can get it in.

I ended up sending it in for repair.  Took about a week to get it back with shipping.  The pad comes off easily now and they either replaced the wrench or bent it back into shape.

I'm stripping paint off a garage and the RAS is working great.  But I did a stupid thing and started using it after I thought I changed the sand paper.  I took the old one off, got distracted, and forgot to put a new one on.  Ugggg.....about 80% of the Velcro loops are gone on the mounting pad.  So after placing an order for a new pad I wanted to see how to take the pad off the tool.  No luck.  I can't unscrew it by hand and the spanner bent when I tried it.

The RAS doesn't have bolt like the ETS, but an M14 outer thread on wich you screw the pad. It's basically an angle grinder.

All I can say is the same as I did above, and perhaps try a stronger spanner.
