Would love to go to the class but I'am new to the Festool line of tools, just purchased the OF 1400, TS 55, CT22 and the MFT3. So the class might be over my head.

When are the newbee classes?

Greg, I know that we are considering a more novice level class.  Can you give me some ideas of what you would like to see in such a class?  Other members are also welcome to weigh in.

Same stuff your doing in the April class. I just do not have any experience with Festool products. I'm replacing all my power hand tools that I bought 30 years ago. Still have a table saw and compound miter chop saw.

Never been to a formal woodworking class. How much hands on it there?

I'm just a weekend tinker with wood working. But the cabinet construction is what I would like to learn.

Thanks

Shane, if I were putting together a intro to Festool woodworking class, I would start with a basic over view of the primary platforms available in the US.  It would have to be a lab based class with a project that showcased the TS platform and rails with the MFT, routing with at least one of the two smaller routers 1010 or 1400 and into the MFK for finer finishing details, introduce the domino platform for its ease of use and its ability to make short work complicated mortise and tenon, and finally giving a good cross section of the sanders in the Festool arsenal and the enhancement when using these tools with CT.

I would design the project to allow the participants to take the project home to show friends, family, and coworkers what is possible with the right tools and techniques.

I'm in the same boat as Greg.  I'm replacing all my power tools so that I can work in the install room without dust and without a gazillion cut and fit trips to the garage.  I'm a skilled renovator, but not skilled at fine woodworking.  I had Woodshop way back in the days when cool classes like that were still available in public schools, but no training otherwise.  I would like to be able to build some cabinets, bookshelves, and built-ins.

I am in the same experience level as you and hoping to learn about cabinetmaking using the Festool system.  I signed op a couple of days ago.  Hope to see some :( of you there.

As a newcomer to Festool, but several years experienced with woodworking I'd like to cover the three or four 'major' tools (TS55/75, OF routers, Domino, Sanders) because they are so different (and superior) to most other tools in their class.

What I find frustrating is the oft discussed problem (for me) of these amazing tools that don't come with any instructions on 1) where stuff goes in the Systainer, 2) the subtle engineering tips (like the Domino casting top being on the centerline of the cutter), 3) and methods of work.  The first two should really be part of the tool's user manual.  But the third is what I see a user training being geared towards.

For example, a full walk through creating a cabinet carcase and maybe some simple frame and panel doors, using the Domino for the joinery for everything.  Of course, within this instruction best practices for the MFT integrated into the process.  I would totally sign-up for a class like that, instead of fuddling my way through ... or spending hours surfing online.  ;-)

I am definitely interested in an introductory level workshop on using the festool system.  Would like to see something very similar to the cabinet construction training, geared more for those not yet using, but interested in switching to festool system.

Having been to the cabinet class as an experienced Festool user, I would agree with Chris above and perhaps a single smaller project, like a medicine cabinet or other small cabinet that would need a carcass, shelf holes, hinges and a door would be a good two day project for newbies.  [2cents]

Add one more to the newbie class.  I'm such a novice to woodworking it would be helpful to see how to utilize all the features of the Festools I have.

Any possibility there will be any classes outside of Lebanon and LV?  I'm in northern Virginia and it would be wonderful to get a class up here.  Maybe inside one of the stores like Fries, Beall, & Sharp or Woodcraft.  Could this be a possibility in the near future?
