I read of the re-working of the light on the Carvex, does this mean that Festool once again plans to release the Carvex to the U.S. and Canada? If so, is there any idea of when this might be?

Thanks.

Jason

Jason, thanks for the question. As soon as any information about the release of the Carvex is available, I'm sure it will be a hot topic here on the forum. As it stands, I have no additional information to share. I will tell you for a fact that it will not be released this year. There's thread pinned in the Festool Tools & Accessories section of the forum that I do a pretty good job of keeping up to date with the latest info about new product introductions in North America.

Bummer!  ???  [mad]

Not that this will matter to Festool or make any difference except to me, but I can tell you that I am quite upset over the (temporary?) withdrawl of this product here and that I have resolved not to purchase any more Festool tools until I am able to purchase a Carvex.

I am not sure if you are joking or serious, but you should be happy Festool is not selling you a bad product as others have received. i don't hold that against Festool at all.

I don't get the rush on the Carvex. They withdrew them becasue of problems , didn't they?

I for one will wait for others to buy it first and let us know after a couple months if they are working well. With all the threads on how the blades go off track etc, I am in no rush at all to be the guinea pig.

I applaud Festool for not selling them , some companies would continue to sell the bad units while they work out the issues,

I must say Festool has a cult following for people to line up to buy a tool that has already proven to be inferior, promised fixes or not.

Not that it will make a difference but sorry you feel that way Frank, and anyone else who shares that sentiment.

I am serious.  I don't believe that it is a bad product.  I got to test the Carvex at Festool in Indiana, an I really liked it.

Since Festool won't tell us why they withdrew the product here, all we can do is speculate.  My speculation is that the only unique problem here in North America with the Carvex is a fear of litigation and/or complaints due to some aspect of the machine that is prefectly OK to anyone with common sense.

I don't consider myself to be a cult follower of Festool.  There are many of their products (such as the Domono and the Kapex) that I do not own and am perfectly happy withpout.  I am not happy without the Carvex.

Thanks for the info Shane, good to know that I ought not to hold my breath on the Carvex.

From the posts I have read here it does not cut straight after about a month and the unit tends to stop in its track as well as the blade slipping out of alignment. These seem like pretty common complaints so I think I can safely assume it is these reasons they are not releasing the tools. There was at least two posts in the last couple days with these issues and one persons Carvex broke down 3 times.

Using the saw and testing it for even a day or two is obviously not representative of the tool or any tool for that matter. I am sure it works great, when it works, but from the posts on the FOG it is just full of issues. I have to go on the posts I have read here regarding that tool, they seem like verifiable complaints from several guys with no issue with Festool. I have not read every post in these threads, but their sure does not seem like anyone is disagreeing with these issues as one might expect if these were isolated cases.

I don't think Festool or almost any company will come right out and say their tools are bad, they keep quiet and try to fix the issues. That seems like how tool companies do it, so I would not expect Festool to give that as a reason. I do know with the Kapex they did admit to an issue and helped everyone get their saws fixed. If it were a code issue I think they would say something like this the tool does not meet NA requirements, not sure I have read they have said that though. I don't think I have read its a material issue either, which seems like most companies would fess up to. So to say nothing, for me, means they are fixing issues. Heck, I hope they are anyway.

From your post Frank it seems you think that there are absolutely no issues and they are withholding the tool for stupid reasons, I just do not agree with that. They want to make money and that just makes no sense. And if it is a liability issue its not stupid from their standpoint.

I will be reading all reports and yours Frank very closely once you get it. If it looks good I certainly will get one.

Oh and I am not a cult follower, but definitely a fanboy of Festool. I hate to admit it, but I am.I should probably have used that term instead of cult follower.

Dovetail65, you have expressed your theories and reasons well and it could be that you are correct.  But, that does not change my position on the issue.
