Extremely pleased with my Syslite; I actually have two. One of my lights however is difficult to charge as the connecting point between the cord and the light seems to be poor in that I have to really work to get a good enough connection between the two. Since I have multiple cords I have ruled out the cord as the problem. I don't believe it is under warranty so I was wondering if anyone had this same problem and knows how much it might cost to repair? Thanks in advance for all courtesies extended!

Ultimately I think it depends on what value you place on a new 3 year warranty. Personally if the repair cost over 60% of a new light I would likely buy a new one with a new warranty.

Also you'd have a spare power cable that purchased alone costs over 50% of the cost of a new syslite.

It sound like you either have a loose soldering or it might be corroded where contact is made .If you're sure it not under warranty ,why not just open the back and check .I believe Bob Marino have some syslite on clearance now at 30% of retail and  come with the full 3yrs warranty .

Does the light work with an external battery?

Yes, I believe all of the large platform batteries work except for the CXS & TXS series.

Sorry,

What I was asking, is if his light works with an external battery. That would determine if the problem might be deeper than the charging connectors or internal battery.

Yes, an external battery can be attached to the back of the Syslite. You just slide the rear cover of the Syslite off and slide on a battery.

The photo below shows the rear of the Syslite with the cover removed and an external battery partially installed.

[eek] Sorry about the image being rotated, it was in the correct position when I attached it but for some reason it was rotated 90 degrees CCW by the FOG.

Whoa...sorry about that, for some reason I thought you were the OP (the JPF versus JD thing if I just glance at it) and you were asking the question, which didn't make sense to me because he already owns 2 of the lights. [eek]
Think I'll just go back to reclining on the couch and doubling up on my meds.  [smile]
