Recent install (finally complete)

Yeah Tim, looks like crap.  But budgets will be budgets...they didn't like the look either...

Well it certainly doesn't look like crap, but your projects always look so clean and well organized that it was a bit different to see.

Another one off the list.

That's a nice big island/table...

Jon, nice job! Elegant and clean! What wood species are you using for the trim? Are you making your own crown moulding and turning those table legs? Which spray gun are you using? Thanks, for posting.

All moldings are stock poplar profiles from a local mill.  The turned legs are from TableLegs.com.  I can't speak intelligently on the finish (other than that it is post-cat lacquer, with a clear coat.). I did not build any of the cabinets in these installs.  Just a kitchen fitter I guess. :)

Here's another.  Coming fast and furious lately.  Some modern ones will be making the cut, so to speak.

Tim, it's about 85 x 63".  The guy that built said "never again."  I guess it was a bit much for him (I asked him if he had a domino "No, that's too expensive.")

Thanks for compliments!

Contemporary install wrapped up.

Interesting project.  Love contemporary.  What kind of lighting is that?  Also, is that a projector in the circular part of the island?

Peter

Nice job as always, Jon.  Your pictures always make me want to move to Charleston.

It looks like a printer, Peter. I think that's a desk.

Peter the recessed cans are LEDs.  Not sure about the island lights.

Jon:

I am Sooooo impressed with your work. It is so clean and elegant, but still there are touches that stand out and call out your wonderful craftsmanship.

If I didn't think I'd slow you down, I'd ask to come work with you for a week. The education would be tremendous!

Beautiful work, Jon.  You need a Houzz.com portfolio.  Many ideas and inspiration in these pics.

Charleston is a great town.  Wonderful canvas to show your stuff!

I had a question on the install of the corbels in your photo, are you holding them up with those "batton's" because you are gluing them?

Thanks.  I guess I had a double dose of stupid pills this morning.

Peter, it's a legitimate question. I was going to elaborate a little on the construction of the house after you asked, I just didn't have the time.  It's an ICF home, and it is incredibly energy efficient.  The initial part to the install took part during some of the coldest weather ever in Charleston.  Yet the home was really comfortable to work in, even though there was no electricity (read: no heat).  So the LEDs play a roll in the efficiency too.  Truthfully, I had never seen recessed LEDs up to this point, and I was surprised at how "warm" they looked.

C'mon down, I could use the help!  And thanks!  Just keep in mind I'm "only" the installer, not the designer.

Neil, thanks.  A lot of the work is in Houzz, but since again I'm "only" the installer...credit goes to designer.

Tim, yes I had to glue the corbels.  Not an ideal situation, but the hood was made in such a way that there was no way to screw down into the corbel to fasten it.  So some heavy duty double sided tape, liquid nails, and some battons...

Wrapped this one up a few weeks ago, had a chance to go back for some service issues so I snapped some pics.

More from the same house.

Exterior entrance is beautiful.  Timber framed (didn't do, but wish I had been there to help/watch.)
