Reciprocating Saw

I expect this has been mentioned before, but when is Festool going to release a reciprocating saw.  A a reciprocating saw is an essential tool for all remodelers.

Extraction on a reciprocating saw would be a blessing indeed, although many of the solutions that are out there tend to get in the way of either visibility or usability for the blade itself, since it's usually a plunge action.

The presence of HK55 and HK85, as well as the insulation saw, demolition drills, and a few EU-only tools opposes the idea that Festool is only for fine woodworking, though.  IMO.

Agree with you, It should be great if new tools from Festool!
Currently, I'm using DeWALT Reciprocating Saw, and it's working well.

huuuummmmm yeah, i forgot about that.

a lot of their tools are based around finewoodworking and shop work, but people can and do use them on site, such as i saw some fencing guys with a ks60 and i use a psc and a tsc on site

Here you find Festool on every building site. A Repro saw wouldn't stand out.

Indeed. Oscillating multitools, angle grinders and impact drivers aren’t fine woodworking tools. In fact, Festool have always positioned themselves more as a site brand than a workshop brand, focusing, as they do, on portability.

I’d like to see a cordless Festool recip saw, if only to avoid another battery platform.

TIL that ProTool has their own EKAT.

And I learned that yes, they had a "Sabre Saw", the SSP 11E

They also had a track chainsaw.

My opinion on a Festool reciprocating saw.  Cordless yes.  To fit the same batteries of the drills and drivers and track saw.  Not really because its needed but why not since it would be easy and cheap to do.  And it would use the same batteries all the other tools do.  Do it.  As for an electric reciprocating saw, NO.  No need.  Milwaukee Sawzall is the old gold standard for reciprocating saws.  And anyone who wants an electric reciprocating saw can just buy a Milwaukee.  Or one of the others already out there.  And reciprocating saws are mainly for tearing stuff up.  So no need for a nice Festool one.  Any electrical reciprocating saw is more than good enough.  There is nothing "precise" about a reciprocating saw.  You just stick it in and cut cut cut.  Doesn't matter what you are cutting or where.  Just cut cut cut.

Possibly there is a market for Festool to make a recip saw that will be precise. Some special base/accessory vecturo-style, and hey, we have a precise recip saw with functional dust extraction!

colins copeing foot for the RSC 20 (stroke length) to do skirting!  angle base for those precision angle cuts during demolition!  it all quite amusing realy.

if you want a beast of a recip, look at the hikoki godzilla, or the new makita XGT one coming out the JR002 i think.  i dont think the majority of tradies would look at one, and kitchen fitters who are the main people to have cordless FT gear, they dont use a recip.  and for the plumber and sparky arguments, i have seen neither with festool, plenny of makita, durwalt of milwaukee about tho

It's more for demolition..

I've used mine to cut Ikea steel rails and to cut aerated concrete. But the one I have is a beast to handle and I found the blades start to flop way too easily.

Well, we are using the jigsaws for lots of semi-precise work after all ... heh. And with a thicker blade, there is nothing preventing a recip saw to be at least as precise with a base.

It would look weird, possibly, but no reason it cannot work for cutting beams.

Today I was at the Bouwbeurs in Utrecht and I've seen the new battery reciprocating saw.

The front end of the saw, under the rubber boot, seems rather large, that seems odd.

It seems to cut about the same speed as a Milwaukee Fuel Sawzall.
