My wife is out of town with the kids and I plan to surprise her with a pair of bedside tables when she gets home. They won't be finished but they will be dimensioned and ready for glueup awaiting her approval to sign off on the project  ;D

I never work from printed plans and always go with what just feels right and am not sure what height to  make the tables. Do you make them so they are level with the top of the mattress so you can see the alarm clock? Do you go slightly higher or lower?

Thanks
Dan Clermont

My tables are the same height as the top of the bed. Like you say, very convenient for reading the alarm clock. I've seen them higher also but I can't say that I've liked them that way.

Mine are slightly lower than the top of the mattress - that way when you roll over, you won't bonk your head on the edge or corner of the table. But you can still see the clock, grab something from the table top, etc. Personally, I definitely wouldn't put them higher than the mattress top...
