RECON Tools - Updates and Thanks

Ok, with fairly short notice, the RECON TOOL Promo has come upon us.  The orders have been sent to Festool and now we await the "results" as in "when will I know the status of my order?" The truth is, we won't for at least a couple of days, at the earliest. Festool got hit hard with an ice and snow storm, so the office has been/will be closed, further delaying the news.

As all have been advised,  some of the more popular tools have been listed in short supply and truth be told, no one knows who will get what. I am hoping that  not too many will be disappointed in the "announcements", but clearly there were a lot of requests and a limited amount of tools. I almost feel like that announcer saying "and the winner is..." I just am not comfortable in that role; never was, never will be.

So in  advance, I'd like to thank Festool for offering this program - while even though frankly I  wasn't thrilled with the actual implementation, it does offer some customers an opportunity to enter into the Festool world and others to "get some more".  Thanks  to the customers for hanging in there and an apology  to the customers  whom I sadly/admittedly didn't have enough time to properly lay out the program too, or who had to call back or leave another email.

Bob, thanks for keeping me informed!  I didn't want to fill up your inbox with a bunch of "what's going on" messages.  Your a class act Mr. Marino!
thats why I like dealing with you! Thanks again.

Bob,

I heard that if dealers enter this code GET IT BY SUMMER there's a good likelihood of orders being received.

Ken, is it Summer of 2011 or 2012? ;)

As many of us know, browsing through Bob's website, there is the caption "What about Bob" where his Festool story is described.  As we see from the efforts on the Recon tools, Bob is just always there, he never goes away.  I would propose that Bob's story is not really complete and goes back much further than he describes.  As a matter of fact, there is even a 1991 movie about him aptly titled "What about Bob?"

In the light of this thread, this seems an appropriate tribute to Bob. ;D ;D ;D
He's never gone, he's always there!

Enjoy,
Steve

Bob,

Thanks for the update...

I have been looking at all of the accessories that I will need to purchase... maybe a LR32, maybe some clamps, maybe a bunch of sandpaper...

Who knows, maybe i will be purchasing all of the above  [eek]

Hi Bob - will we have to wait until Monday to find out when we are getting our new toys?  Thanks.

Well, Festool is  working Saturday I think, and I will be checking.

I notice that there is only one listing for the smaller planer now -- the one which was "low stock" previously is no longer in the list; I suspect that means at least some of the tools have shipped out by now?

Not sure if anything shipped yet, maybe a few items. But if there is no more stock listed that means they are allocated already.

Inventory is updated in real-time based on what's available. Orders that have been entered, but not necessarily shipped, are reflected in that availability.

The product I ordered still shows in stock, and I ordered it a few days before the deadline. Looks good so far on Feb 5th.
If I don't get my sander I will kick and scream
all the way to the shop and use one of my other Green and Black sanders.

Dust free sanding with wireless headphones and a cold beverage has actually become an enjoyable part of a project.

Hi Bob - when should we expecting a notice if we were fortunate to get our recon tools shipped?  Thanks.

I have received a slew of notices today, with many more to come through as Festool sorts through the orders.  I  am emailing the tracking info out tonight.  Working through the actual logistics, particularly with orders that  have a second choice selection, has been a bit tough for Festool (putting it mildly) as they are in uncharted territory.

But yours has shipped, tracking will be emailed.
