This is the prototype for a style of Cutlery canteen I want to be able to sell, so I can buy more festoolery  (as opposed to Tomfoolery). I will export BTW. ;) :)
The timber is Red Cedar (Toona Calantis, also called Surian) with Birdseye Maple as the dividers. Used the TS75, RO150 and DTS400 for this. Oh and the Kapex. Almost forgot. The finish is Shellac under UBeaut Traditional Wax. It's supposed to have a "Colonial look". The cedar should mellow to a darker red. The lid is bookmatched from one piece of 2" deep cedar.

Regards,

Rob

The piece is exquisite.  I was really enjoying the post until I got to the Kapex part.

Anyway, please define festoolery vs tomfoolery. I keep getting so mixed up!

Surely Dave,

Festoolery is the provisioning of a workshop with sufficient green and black ordnance for necessary hand to hand combat with any timber or light gauge steel during a sanctioned action.(see LOML/SWMBO)) 8)

Tomfoolery is the act of trying to convince another woodworker of the benefits of such ordnance in the face of total ignorance on the part of the woodworker in question. ;)

Rob
