I first heard this term from the host of Marketplace (The Before Times) relative to things that have changed, likely for good.
My latest run in is trying to find a source for long sticks of 1-1/2" by 3" 80/20. I want a do-over on my stationary work surfaces and I need one piece about 9' and 2 shorter sections, total of ~24'. The material cost was ~50% higher than in the past which is understandable. Shipping was more than materials, & the total was in well in excess of $600. Hard stop.
Shopping around at some 80/20 competitors I found one that recommended ordering
