Gentlemen,
Many thanks for the excellent feedback.
FYI, I'm not offended in any way about the questions challenging my reasons for cleaning out the hose. Having ones assumptions challenged can generate good discussion.
My concern about the paint in the host is performance impact only. I'm not concerned about the esthetics or having a few dried paint flakes getting sucked into the bag. Festool hoses are designed differently from standard corrugated hoses. Changing the inside of the hose could affect airflow.
For the comments here, it looks like most people think the paint is having a minimal performance impact. It turns out that this is probably true...
For a while, my CT26 suction didn't seem that good. Originally, it looked like the painted hose might be the issue. Based on your feedback, I started looking elsewhere...
The inside of the vac's tube from hose to bag had a little paint, so I looked at the bag. The bag seemed normal and only partially full, but I realized that it had not been changed since the door painting. Which meant that the paint had probably coated the inside of the bag.
After replacing the CT26 bag, suction was much better. To be on the safe side, I inspected filters both CTs (they were fine) and replaced the CT22 bag. If looks like the suction issue is resolved without removing the paint from the hose.
Thanks,
Dan.
