I have bought 3 replacement tops for the MFT/3 table and besides coming banged up they never came with the 4 holes with threaded inserts in the 4 corners so I could screw the new tops in place. Has this happened to anyone else and where can I buy a replacement top with the threaded holes to screw the top into the table

Mike

Hi Mike,

It is quite easy to sort out without having to order new tops.

Take out your old top and place it exactly over one of the new tops. Take a drill that is just small enough to go through the holes in the corner of the old top and drill through your new top.

You will need to buy 4 screw inserts (for each MFT top). I think the internal thread size is 8 mm from memory. The ones that I have require a 9 mm hole so that they can be screwed into the MFT top and so drill out those 4 holes as required. Screw in the inserts and fit the top.

If the tops were damaged when you received them, you should contact your dealer. They'll be the ones to help you get a new one.

Let me know if you didn't received the inserts. If you didn't, I can get some to you.

Out of curiosity, did you buy all three tables from the same dealer at the same time?

I haven't bought any new tops for my MFTs yet. But I would imagine that those inserts would be installed and all one would have to do is just swap the top out.

Otherwise why wouldn't someone buy a aftermarket top or make their own.

The inserts should be installed. Let us know if you get a top where they aren't.

Unfortunately I don't remember who I purchased them from but might have been Amazon.  2 came with crushed corners so sent them back and gave up but no holes with inserts. The last one I bought the guy picture framed it so came all in one piece but no threaded inserts. I tried to drill and screw new inserts in but no luck, all crooked. So since I don't use the MFT/3 anymore for precise cuts I am just going to lay the top in place w/o being screwed in. Selling these.
