I need some help with replacing a power cord on my planer that was cut in half. I have rejoined the cut ends and the planer seems to work okay but I want to repair it correctly. I was told that it would be a repair I could do myself but I am not so sure now. I have a new replacement power cord but it looks like I have to disassemble the entire unit to get to the power connection. I do not want to have my planer become another victim of a repair that I thought I could do myself and got in over my head. Anyone ever replace a power Cord on the EHL 65? Are there any special tools needed? Any step by step how to guides available?

If I remember right it is fairly simple there is half a dozen of Torx screws to pull on the one side and the rear half of the casing just pops open. There is a pair of Torx that clamp the wire in and the connections are with terminals just friction fit onto the switch.

Here is a picture...[attachimg=#]

You can see where the cord enters the body there are a pair of holes (where the cord clamp would be)

I was wrong about the how the wires connect to the switch...on the back side there are a few flat headed screws that clamp the wires in place.

Hope this helps.
