Since i only have T-loc systainers, i can tell you that the Tloc sys1 does not have the same height as the kapex..

Really! It's (the turn table table height) the same height as the old Sys1.
Why would they change it for the TLoc?
Tim

The T-Locs are based on the same stacked dimensions as the classic systainers, but I believe the feet on the T-Loc are higher to accomodate the 'hook' part along the back edge. This would mean that the overall height of a sys1 T-Loc would be about 5 or 6mm higher.

I just measured a Sys 1 T-loc and it is an 1/8" taller then the regular Sys 1, I don't see any issues with that at all.

yep!! so for me, thats a problem if i use the kapex on the floor, (on site) and when i'm using shorter lenght's of material

I think the regular Sys 1's are a touch low compared to the bed of the Kapex.

You guys like to split hairs over an 1/8".

I don't get the complaining over 1/8" height difference in a T-loc VS. a regular sys 1.

I just don't see the issue.

the thing is, when i put my kapex flat on the floor, and i put the sys 1 T-loc  2 feet away to support the stock because it's about 3mm higher,  it puts the stock up at an angle, so the 90 degree cut, is off by almost a degree.. i find that annoying..

but, that is only MY opinion.. just the way i feel about it..

Keep a couple of small pcs of masonite on hand an just slide them under the saw.  [wink] I am sure you could cut them small enough to keep in the systainer.

What are you cutting on the floor, pieces of timber?

If you use the clamp or you hand to hold the material tight to the fence or bed, I see no issues.

maybe something wider then 6" and over 1" thick but, not moldings or floorings.

could do al that,.. (kinda already do).. but festool also could have thought about it a little bit better, and make the Tloc sys1 the same height..

hey everybody, thanks for all the comments and compliments and questions... I will get back to answering them tonight... I have been out of it today with bronchitias and laying in bed all day... rare for me!  but going to doc and get medicine and then up and at it...

Hey, if you're home and prone, you could do a functional test of the Festool beer stein to complement the one that Paul-Marcel did.  (Just a thought...)  Waiting for the video...

- Assembly.  You need 4 hands, 3 knees and the strength of an Ox to get the saw on the stand.   The stand is totally unstable until the saw is locked down, so there is huge potential for dropping it.

Well, here's how I would solve that problem, just based on what I can see in the pictures (and knowing that it would take even longer to get my teenage sons off their video games to come help):

- Take a couple 2x4s and clamp them to your workbench, hanging off the workbench a couple feet to support the kapex in mid air
- Make sure they're spaced narrower that the ends of the kapex where the stand needs attach.
- Clamp the kapex to the 2x4s so it won't get knocked off
- Attach the stand while in this "jig"
- Remove clamp and slide entire saw/stand assembly off the 2x's and onto the floor.

Wouldn't that be easier?

Depending on what is in the T-Loc, you turn it upside down and turn in 90 degrees. That way your material would be in between the feet on the bottom that is now facing up.

Why have you got the Kapex mounted the wrong way round on the video?!  Is their any reason for it?!     IF you was to transport the left and right arm extensions on the kapex I can not see where it they could go having the kapex mounted the wrong way like your Kreg.   The other way it gets trapped between the kapex and the bar which is only on on side of the ug-stand.    I noticed it straight away but couldn't figure it out I was watching the video thinking its seems funny does not look the same as my Kapex and stand then I realised when you lifted it by the kapex handle yours was mounted the other way as I lift mine by the base.

He's got the NA version, which mounts backwards to match our steering wheel location.  I've heard that Festools shipped to Australia and other points south of the Equator also spin backwards to match the rotation of their toilet water during a flush.....

Speaking of Australia, did anyone see the new episode of Top Gear with the Australian challenge, priceless.  Sorry for going off topic, cool video Kreg  [big grin]

Hi kreg good video, just to back up what jmb is saying I also noticed your saw was mounted the wrong way. When you get your plastic extension holder you will see how snug it all fits together. If the truth be told I did the same as yourself when I got mine back last may. I use it most days and would say it solid and very true with all cuts.

Regards tom

I love my festools, but after buying the kapex and the table and the knobs to mount it to the table and then the crown extentions so I could buy the extentions for it, I now own a $3,000.00 miterbox saw and stand. Is it just me or is any else getting a little P O getting $100.00- $500.00 to death. If you buy a router and then a guild fence you have to buy a hole new case so it will fit. A course after you do they come out with all new cases that do not work well with the other ones. Maybe it's just me. Dan

It's all in the name of progress.  At least that is what I tell myself.

I have the current extension set and am more then happy with the whole set up.

Personally, I could not do with out the crown stops, or the table space the kapex mft/3 provides.  I can't be the only one that writes down a cut list on it or other important things.

They made it to be more portable then the current set up but, I would not trust my kapex on that stand.  I know I would knock it over some way, some how.

Plus, you'd have nowhere to set down your beer........
