I have had the RO 125 sander for a couple of months and decided to try it out on sanding an exterior door prior to painting again.  I was a little concerned with all I have read on the forum about a bouncing somewhat uncontrollable machine.

Much to my surprise it performed beyond all my expectations.  I was using Mirka abranet 80/120/150/180/220 and I never once had any issues.  I have the CT48, so turned the suction way down and just held the sander with my right hand at the rear, and my left resting on the top.  Excellent results.  Bill

Your post reinforces my belief that a lot of the reported issues with the Rotex sanders - and the RO125 in particular - are more often due to operator issues than machine issues. It's nice to hear from someone who has one, uses it, and finds is a pleasure.

Thanks for posting!

I experienced the "bouncing/jittering" w/ RO sanders, I'm in the camp that it's a learning curve thing more than anything.

In rotary mode, there's only a few ways you can hold it without it jittering about, whereas in random orbital, almost any hand position is fine.

The auxiliary front handle is a good option, but I don't think it's available for the RO 125 unfortunately.

Bill,

Did you use it in Rotex mode?

Jack

Yes Jack for the 80 grit I used Rotex, then switched to the eccentric.  Both were very easy to use.  Bill
