Got it used a year or so ago. It's never been 'easy' to switch modes as the knob is hard to turn. Is there something I can clean/lube up to make it easier or is this part of the older design?

I picked up a rebuild kit from Ebay recently too, figured what the heck it was a reasonable price.

Maybe a holiday is in order for the RO150, to Festool Service Dept? Tools , like cars, need a bit of servicing from time to time to prevent loss of use.
A good tech'y can actually save you money, by not miss-diagnosing the problem and giving the correct solution.
There is no way of knowing what the previous owner did/abused/lent the tool to [eek] so for peace of mind let a trained techie loose on it.

Just my thoughts, based on own experience. Rob.

Mine got almost impossible to turn a couple years ago. I think it was caused by resin from pine. I was sanding rough cut green pine for a timber frame building at the time. I removed the green knob and shaft and cleaned it with paint thinner and lubricated it with something (don't remember what) and it has worked fine ever since. I think I cleaned everything out in the gears at the same time but I don't think that was the cause.

I hope the 'switching modes' refers to the width adjustment.  This is only to be changed while the machine is running.  I've had mine since intro and have never had any problems.  I know some users did not know this little fact for using the Domino.  Manuals can be downloaded from Festool site as well as great supplementary manuals!

Sorry total space out here.... whoa!

gotta   -     put   -    crack   -  pipe    -   down   -  as  -  soon  -   as  -   I   -  get  -  one   -   more  -  domino  -  glued....

I do have an RO 150 FEQ, but you must be referring to the older model as there are no knobs on the FEQ.

The RO 150 is the dual mode sander. I will keep you advice in mind when I used my Domino though.  [smile]
