What pad comes standard on the 150 RO?

Do the 150 RO pads work on the new ETS 150 sanders, are they interchangable?

I am sanding some large boards for the top and sides and front and back of a blanket chest. The boards are 20" by 41" wide, so big flat surfaces. I'm using the RO 150, would you use a hard, medium, or soft pad?

Would you switch pads meaning start with hard, then move to medium or soft as the grits change?

Use a hard pad for all grits

Totally my unqualified opinion from browsing the FOG, but I'm starting to think it's just plain wrong that the hard pad isn't included by default in Festool sanders.  Or at least you should get a choice of pad with purchase.  Or, God forbid, include both.  It seems like the hard pad is encouraged for use more often than not.

Acce$$ories!

The standard pad that comes with a RO 150 FEQ is 496147

if you have a Ro 150 E the standard pad is item 498987

- The soft pad comes as the standard pad with the RO150

- You can not exchange pads between the RO150 and ETS150, different mount.

- I mostly use the hard pad on wood.

- I almost never switch pads on one object.

The hard pad is great with wood, which is mostly straight, but not so with cars, which have curves. The soft pad is the most all-round pad.

I second that motion.

Meh, that's a €60 increase on initial price of the sander.

I'm sure there's one someplace, but I don't recall ever seeing an official Festool promotion for automotive usage.  Always wood.  I only know Festool is popular for automotive from what I've read here.

In Europe, Rupes is the number one brand in the automotive sector. Since at least a decade now, Festool has taken up the challenge to get a bigger market share in that sector. They really try very hard. They make more and more products especially aimed at that sector. Like for instance the newest ETS EC sanders.
