RO125, Changing Sanding Pad?

I received a RO125 FEQ for Christmas.  My problem is that when I tried to change  the sanding pad to a polishing pad I couldn't get the sanding pad off.  I read the instructions and so did my husband.  Is there someting I'm missing?  How much muscle is needed to change the pads on the RO 125?

Ensure the sander's in rotary mode.  With the sanding pad facing up, press and hold the green button on the rear of the sander and rotate the pad counter-clockwise.  Mine was quite stiff the first few times.  Good luck.

Debbie, I had the same issue with the same sander.  You need to apply a lot of force to take out the pad the first time.  I don't know if this is normal, but this is what I had to do.  I put it back in and out a few more times and after that it was fine.  It still is not as smooth to change the pad as is shown int he videos, but I wouldn't consider it an issue, except for that first time.

Perhaps one of the dealers want to add their 2 cents, whether the first time you pull of the stock pad it should be hard or not.

JGA.

Was tight for me too.  I was more worried about breaking it because it seemed more difficult than I had expected.  Since then it has been fine.

My RO150 was the same way...it took every ounce of muscle power that I had to get it off for the first time. This was the same for many of my other Festool products as well. Kapex was the same way with its arbor nut.

Just be careful not to bloody your knuckles when you finally get it.  :'(

Since none of the other 'gentlemen' did; Debbie allow me to welcome you as the first (as far as I know) lady to our forum. Guys watch your language from now on :)!

Thanks for your advise and welcoming me to the forum.  I finally got the pad off by using both of my hands while my husband held down the green button.  Also, thanks for the warning on the Kapex, I haven't changed that blade yet.

Hi Debbie,

I got the RO150 feq and the ETS 150 for xmas and I also had a heck of a time changing pads on both. Almost sent the ETS back and then decided to try one more time and it worked.
