RO125 (model 571782) pad removal

I made sure to put the sander in the correct "mode" (slid to right), fully pressed in the green button at the bottom near the plug, and twisted the pad and it won't budge... anyone else have this problem?? How did you remove it??

You could try flipping it upside down, pushing in the lock button, pre-load the pad for removal (So the lock doesn't release) and then lock it between your legs and use both hands to twist the pad off.

If I've understood your problem correctly - and it's just very, very tight - I had to put on the coarsest abrasive disc I had and pressed down hard on the bench or a piece of sheet goods and that was enough friction to be able to twist the pad off (a suggestion I found here on the FOG, btw).
If the pad that is on there now has partly broken off (have I got that part right?), this may not work so easily...

I've had it from time to time with my Ro150. It is a bajonet fitting, so a friction fit. If there's some sanding dust in it, it can become very hard to remove. All you can do is apply more pressure, but keep it civilised so you don't break an internal part.

The good news is that this is usually only the first time. After you remove and replace the pad it will not be so bad again. I swap between the regular, hard, and soft pad fairly frequently. But I use mine on a variety of materials from solid wood to acrylic (solid surface) and sheet goods.

Did you get loosened?  I changed mine recently (my pad split as well).  I had to apply lots of pressure but got the old pad off eventually.

BTW, welcome to FOG!  Lots of good people and good advice around here.
