Like it's welded on there.  Anyone have any experience with this?  To give the backstory, I did lend the sander out for about 6 months to a buddy who was refinishing his floors, so it got a lot of use on stairs and such- it is possible to run it so hot that the head fuses on to the body?

Not likely, I think the problem is you need a man to remove it.... [poke] [tongue]  All kidding aside, I've run into this before, you probably just need to give it a bit more muscle.

Yeah, that's what i thought too....But I'm 6'4- 220 and I wrapped a towel around my hand and cranked on it until the pad ripped the towel....Not sure how much more force I could give it.  Maybe if I got a pipe wrench with a 6" jaw...

So you're saying you haven't exhausted all the options yet before you posted here. [blink]  Again, I'm kidding.  I'd try some more muscle and mental focus since you've got til Monday before you can call Festool.

I am 6'2" and well... I wish I was 220 but more like 240.

I have a hard time sometimes getting the pads off so I doubt it is actually fused on but more likely just well seated and may need some convincing.

Cheers
Dan

Wow! Brice is on one today  [laughing]

I'm assuming you're referring to the mental focus part, I didn't mean that to be insulting.  Being able to really focus you efforts can make all the difference.

Dane, I hope you weren't offended, that wasn't my intention.

Not at all- I took your words to heart and redoubled my efforts.  See the results- Looks like I am going to need a new pad...

I guess you weren't kidding about that pad being really stuck. [scared]  Something that might help prevent this in the future is some dry lube sprayed on the pad's threads.  I use TopCoat.

I wasn't really referring to anything in particular.  It just seems as though you had a brandy new 'smart @$$' hat that you were trying out :D

Brice, doesn't this kind of remind you of when I told you to put a little more muscle into shoving that hose reducer into the D36 tool-end fitting.  [blink] [scared] [big grin]

Yes it does and your ears must burn every time I pick up my D36 hose. [poke] [big grin]  I'm joking, the tool end on my hose is still working fine despite the crack.

Had this very problem just last week when trying to replace a worn out pad on my RO150.  Called festool service (888) 337-8600, the gentelmen suggested since I was replacing the pad anyway I could take a wood scrap ( like a inch and half by six inches long ) and screw it into the pad. Worked great for me.  [big grin]

first of all
[welcome]
got here before peter

i have a similar problem on my new ro150 but cant sacrifice the pad
