The parent "Brick and Mortar" store to FJ is a Rockler affiliate. We have quite an extensive line of woodworking supplies that we purchase through Rockler. I have the highest regard for Rockler and the earlier post was not intended to be inflammatory towards Rockler colloquially speaking. I simply view my role as a dealer to be, in-part, an educator for the brand Festool. As is the case with most dealers that post here on the FOG.
I think that FOG members know the deal/pricing structure of Festool products. For a newbie, jumping on to the slippery slope, IMHumbleOpininon, there needs to be some guidance and support offered; otherwise, it does nothing for the brand Festool. A TS 55 EQ is more than just a $440 saw that runs on a guide rail, that one would use to size plywood.
As far as the marketing, I simply could not see FJ advertising "Buy Festool Here, we offer the lowest available price for Festool Tools and Accessories anywhere....guaranteed." or "FJ now offers X% off all Y's when you purchase a _____Z____ ." Then when you click item "Z", it shows the "Y" listed as a "Special Price."
Guys this is just my $0.02 and I by no means feel bitter about the marketing strategy. If the truth be told, I think the level of Festool awareness is certainly elevated now that the large internet box stores are advertising in there catalogs. My point is that I would simply like to see some "edgemucating" going on when a person spends an average of $738.22 on a package deal with Festool.....
