Rockler Festool special - 15% off dust extractors

All I can say is Do The Math between the Rockler price and FestoolUSA.com' price.  There are always clever ways to fool the public into thinking they are getting a deal.  If the Rockler price is indeed less expensive than FestoolUSA.....act quickly because they are going to get their license to sell Festool yanked very quickly.

Save 15% on the C12 3.0aH drill when you buy the "Right Angle Chuck" AND THE "Eccentric Chuck" at full price.

Anyone notice Rockler has a 15% discount on Festool dust extractors when combined with purchase of certain main Festool power tools, see this link:

too bad I bought my CT33 with the router last month from Festool Supply.

Great marketing ploy.   It's the same price as buying a package deal.  Festool gives you 15% off the dust extractor when you buy a package deal.  As a result, I don't think it's really a sale, they are just doing great marketing.

We could cross this over to the "What Dealer...." thread.  Playing on the ignorance of first time Festool Buyers in an online catalog environment that for years has been very solid.  I think Rockler has done a ton for the woodworking community.  However, there is a huge word that I live by and that is "Integrity."  On the other hand, a user is indeed saving 15 percent when they buy a vacuum with a tool.  I just don't think that the naive Festool purchaser is allowed the opportunity to understand that is how a person should buy Festool...in a package.  So, it does get product out there.  My hope is that the "first time purchaser" can find their way to the into the FOG, FestoolJunkie, Bob, or any other knowledge based dealers and forums....because more than likely, they are not going to get the necessary information from a phone operator, sitting in a cubical with a head set on, at one of the "large box stores doing business on the internet."

And that's all I have to say about that.  ;)

Relax guys, I don't think they are trying to fool anybody, just advertising it in a different way.

I'm not enthusiastic about Rockler selling Festool, but as Gary says, it's just a different presentation of the same pricing.  Customer doesn't end up worse off (at least in money) by buying at Rockler, and that customer's own local Rockler might offer good support.

Not deceptive in the least, except for perhaps making you think their pricing is different.  No biggie.

I have to give credit to Rockler for bringing in new woodworkers and hobbyist. Today, they were the only place that had the Tradesmen cleaning set.
And I bought another universal blade. It's good to have a selection of dealers to choose especially late evenings and weekends.

I also took the time to meet one of the Rockler sales guys who is going to start working full-time for Festool this Spring as a local rep for Pacific Northwest region.
So, I can't generalize about all Rockler dealers. There are some good ones.

My local Rockler's store is not my "go to" place for Festool.  Their staff doesn't know much (yet) about the product line, and are not willing to allow a prospective customer (including one who has been a Rockler's customer >20 years) to "play" with any of the tools.  Despite this criticism, I give them high marks for the many times their sales reps have helped me with solutions to particular woodworking issues I brought to them, and for having a good variety of products on hand to choose from.  Recently I was looking for pian-style (continuous) hinges in which one flange was L-shaped.  They had them in stock when most of my catalogue's did not even show them to exist.

The parent "Brick and Mortar" store to FJ is a Rockler affiliate.  We have quite an extensive line of woodworking supplies that we purchase through Rockler.  I have the highest regard for Rockler and the earlier post was not intended to be inflammatory towards Rockler colloquially speaking. I simply view my role as a dealer to be, in-part, an educator for the brand Festool.  As is the case with most dealers that post here on the FOG.

I think that FOG members know the deal/pricing structure of Festool products.  For a newbie, jumping on to the slippery slope, IMHumbleOpininon, there needs to be some guidance and support offered; otherwise, it does nothing for the brand Festool.  A TS 55 EQ is more than just a $440 saw that runs on a guide rail, that one would use to size plywood.

As far as the marketing, I simply could not see FJ advertising "Buy Festool Here, we offer the lowest available price for Festool Tools and Accessories anywhere....guaranteed." or "FJ now offers X% off all Y's when you purchase a _____Z____ ."  Then when you click item "Z", it shows the "Y" listed as a "Special Price."

Guys this is just my $0.02 and I by no means feel bitter about the marketing strategy.  If the truth be told, I think the level of Festool awareness is certainly elevated now that the large internet box stores are advertising in there catalogs.  My point is that I would simply like to see some "edgemucating" going on when a person spends an average of $738.22 on a package deal with Festool.....
