Taking an old thread out of mothballs...
Was doing a general internet search looking for answers to my Rolair jc 10 issue, when I came across this thread.
Looks like mine has a bad starting capacitor. After a couple of cycles, the unit clicks on but just hums. Unplug it for an hour or so, get a couple of cycles,... then just hums. Wash, rinse, repeat.
It has been rather hot here this summer with humidity past ridiculous and approaching absurd. None the less, it should be able to handle it as I get no where close to it's alleged 70% duty rating. It was purchased new and have had it for about 6 months with 20-30 working days on it maximum.
Looks like I will be contacting Rolair this week or next. :'(
