Rolair JC10 Compressor Review

The drain seems to be a little flimsy or could be damaged easily.

I had an issue with my drain after playing with the compressor for all of about 20 minutes when I got it.  Seemed like it got harder and harder to open the drain valve.  Turned out there is a little rubber washer in there and mine somehow got deformed and thus caused it to leak.  I contacted Rolair and they promptly sent me out a new and improved drain valve.  Put a bit of thread seal tape and got it installed.  No more leaks and super easy to drain now since it's a 1/4 turn ball valve.

I like that valve I'm going to have to find me one of those. Haven't had might leak yet but it seems unstable.

I also had an issue with mine.  A new part was dispatched immediately and it is such an improvement.

Mine had a few minor issue at first, which rol air quickly took care of. But since then its worked perfect...today I was on job with porter cable pancake compressor , and wow it was crazy loud...can't imagine working without my jc-10!

That new drain valve design looks nice.

Mine's been getting a bit difficult to loosen to drain the tank.  Does anyone know the cost of it as I've had mine for about 2 or 2.5yrs so I guess warranty won't cover it :(

Today I got my Rolair JC10 from The Nut after having returned the Senco PC1010 I bought from Amazon.  I think the hose quick connector might be defective - the connector feels very cheap compared to my PC pancake compressor and the lock ring doesn't have full travel (see attached pics for comparison).  The Rolair connector leaks when touched.  My UPS driver is going to hate me with all these compressor deliveries.

The Rolair is certainly WAY quieter than the PC pancake, not sure if it's much different from the Senco PC1010.  I'd be happy with it if I didn't see all these people talking about being barely able to hear it.  Maybe you're just all deaf from owning PC pancakes in the past and I can talk over the Rolair with a slightly raised voice, the vibration does make a bit more noise when it's sitting on my heavy duty work table than when it's on the concrete floor.  I don't know if it would be inaudible from room to room in the living area of the house.

Don't mean to sound too whiny, I think I've been thinking too much about air compressors this week.

I really wanted a thomas but with them being out of stock and I've heard of people having a hard time getting parts I decided to look at other brands.  Oil less was a big deal for me as it gets cold here and I don't want to waste time trying to warm up a compressor in the morning.  I'm really happy with the JC10 and now I'm looking for a larger compressor to handle the framing guns and large trim jobs.

Dave -- good video.  That thing is quiet.  You mention the only negative is viewing the gauges.  How about putting an elbow fitting on them to aim them vertically?  Hard to tell for sure but it looks like there might be clearance.

Just picked one up today. Used it for about 1/2 hour. No ear protection needed and you can hear the radio. Awesome compressor. Porter Cable pancake is now retired.

Ha!  That's an awesome review.  "Enjoy the music" could be a new marketing slogan for the JC10.

How can everybody like these? They are the wrong color green and they don't fit in a Systainer?

[tongue]

Seriously, for those who have had them for a year or more, would you recommend them to another FOG member?

Won't hurt to contact Rolair and see what they can do for you.
Finally emailed Rolair and they will be sending me a new valve  [thumbs up]
The service manager said to heat the current valve up to break the seal of loctite.

How easy/difficult was it to remove mikeneron?

I asked about this when I purchased mine and someone from Rolair said it was ok.

Thanks for all the feed back on this compressor. I have one question that I didn't see or may have miss, is there a duty cycle and what is it?

Pretty simple...just used a crescent wrench. Just make sure all the air is drained first :)
Interesting.  No issues/difficulty with the loctite without needing to heat it up (as the service manger advised me)?
